The Village DPW will begin flushing hydrants 9/29 at midnight. They will start at the southern end of the village and work their way north towards the college.

They will then work towards the center of the Village (Main & Temple) by Tuesday. You can expect some roily water from time to time,. It is not unsafe! Simply run your water prior to consuming. Thank you.

The Village of Fredonia will be conducting lead and copper water service inspections to some residents throughout the Village in the next few weeks. A Village employee will only need access to your water meter to do a visual inspection of your water line. If you know the material of your service you may report that yourself by calling the Village of Fredonia DPW at 716-679-2304.

There will be a special meeting of the Board of Trustees for the Village of Fredonia at 1 PM in the first floor conference room in Village Hall, 9-11 Church St. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss Canadaway Creek project with Lake Erie Management Commission.

The Village of Fredonia will be picking up limbs and yard waste beginning Tuesday September 3, 2024, at 7 am collection will continue until every Village street has been completed. Bags and brush are collected separately by different crews. All items for collection must be at the curb no later than 7am Monday morning. In no case will there be repeat collection of areas completed.

ALL YARD WASTE MUST BE BAGGED OR IN BARRELS. WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO USE BIODEGRADABLE BAGS OR BARRELS AND ALL LIMBS AND BRUSH MUST BE TIED WITH TWINE. Limbs and brush must be cut no longer than 4 feet in length with bundles being no larger than 18 inches in diameter. Bundles and bags are limited to 65 pounds in weight. There is no collection of loose material. NO LOOSE LEAVES WILL BE PICKED UP.

The Code Enforcement office is reminding residents to please be aware of the following Village Code when cleaning up/maintaining your properties this Spring/Summer: 193.3- “No person shall throw or deposit litter in or upon any street, sidewalk, park, parking area, playground or other public place within the Village of Fredonia except in public receptacles provided by the Village of Fredonia or authorized private receptacles for collection.” This includes blowing grass clippings on the streets and sidewalks.

The Code Enforcement office is reminding residents to please be aware of the following Village Code when setting up for garage/yard sales this Spring/Summer: 297-16.3(B)- “Signs on public property. No private sign shall be placed in any street right-of-way or on other public property. No private sign shall be allowed in the triangle formed from measuring back on both street rights-of-way from an intersection nine feet.”

At 10:00 pm Sunday May 19, 2024 the Village of Fredonia will start flushing water mains and fire hydrants in and around the Village. Flushing will be done from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am to minimize problems with water during the day.

The flushing will take approximately two weeks and during this process, residents may experience turbid water and reduced water pressure. The Village recommends that residents check the quality of their water before doing laundry.
